Let Purpose Decide

God has made you for an awesome, God-sized task. One that cannot be accomplished outside of Him. So decide to make the most of your time.

On the go? Press play!

Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil. Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.  Eph 5: 15-17  AMPC

Before I formed you in the womb I knew [and] approved of you [as My chosen instrument], and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you; [and] I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.   Jer 1:5 AMPC

God is calling us to be very purposeful and strategic about the way we live.  He wants us to be aware of our habits, our thought patterns, and general lifestyles in light of His will for our lives.  The fact that you exist means there is a very specific purpose for which you were created.  God didn’t make you and then wonder what to do with you.  He had a purpose in mind – a particular thing He wanted to accomplish, and then He carefully and lovingly designed and created you.  He chose your personality, what you would look like, the parents you would have and gave you specific gifts and abilities unique to you.

There may be others who can do what you do but there is no one who can do it the WAY you do.

In this information-saturated age it is easy to lose sight of how special and unique you are.  Everyone has a blog…even cats have YouTube channels.  There’s another invention being presented on Shark Tank every day!  So why you? Why bother? What makes you special?

God had a very special idea in mind and then made you to carry it out.  He knew you inside and out – familiar with every detail of your being.  It’s important to know that He also approved of you before He even made you.  You don’t need to seek the approval of others.  That means God put His seal and stamp of satisfaction on you.  It means the Creator of the Universe says you are good.   His product is perfectly designed for its purpose.  You were made to do something very well. To excel. To shine.

The scripture in Eph 5 is saying we need to be purposeful about how we live.  In light of the fact that your time here on earth is limited and that you have a very specific purpose for being, it only makes sense to be intentional about how you spend your time.

Athletes who wish to be great, who have the Olympics in mind, train every day.  Often before most of us are awake!  Their goal determines everything they do – where they live, what they eat, who their friends are, what they watch on TV, when they sleep…  The goal, the purpose, becomes the sift of opportunities and choices.

Every moment of every day we are presented with choices – opportunities to do this or that.  What should guide the decision is, “will it add or subtract from my goal, my purpose?”, “will this choice bring me closer to knowing the One who made me and the purpose for which I was made?”.

If you don’t already know what God’s purpose is for you,  it’s crucial that you read your manual.  Start reading the Word every day and spend time in prayer asking God to reveal His heart for you – why He made you.  Ask Him to renew your mind as you read so you can discern His will for you.

God is a designer.  He isn’t vague.  He is very detailed and specific.  He wants you to be wise and to live on purpose…to live sensibly as someone who understands His will.  You have to spend time with God in order to get a firm grasp on what His will is, but also to know how He wants you to accomplish it.

He is calling you to a lifetime relationship where you are both witness and participant to the unfolding of the miracle that you are.

He has made you for an awesome, God-sized task.  One that cannot be accomplished outside of Him.  One that cannot be fathomed other than by a renewed mind.  So decide to make the most of your time.  Get to know the God who made you and you’ll find that you’re also getting to know yourself.  You were made as God’s chosen instrument.  So don’t waste your life and time on things that have nothing to do with why you’re here.

Start living on purpose!

Love & Blessings,

Less Trodden
