The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack! The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. Ps 34:7-10 AMPC
God promises protection and rescue to those who fear Him. To those who reverently honor Him with their lives. When you fear God, you seek to honor Him in all things. You defer to Him and His will in all things. You depend on Him in everything you do. To fear God is to acknowledge Him as Lord in every area of your life. You step off the throne and allow God to direct your path. You make decisions based on what is pleasing to Him rather than what makes most sense to your natural mind. The Lord puts His angels to stand guard over you when you live this way. A lifestyle of fearing and honoring God tells the spirit world, “I belong to the Lord God Almighty. I am His and not my own. I follow His lead and rest safely in His protection and care”.
When you taste something, you experience the flavor – the essence of that thing. You come in contact with the substance of something when you taste it. In order to taste the Lord’s goodness, I need to take a step in His direction and away from my desires. The essence of who God is, is found in His presence. When we seek God through prayer, reading the Word and worship, we come in contact with the substance of who God is. Taste and see – just give God even the smallest chance to show you who He is – to show you that He is good. Once you’ve really tasted of His goodness there’s no turning back. Nothing else compares. Once you’ve experienced the essence of God – His love, His mercy – you’re never the same. When you experience God’s goodness, it changes your perspective and the way you view life. You taste, then you see. You experience God’s love then you can see Him at work in your circumstances, even when they are difficult. You begin to see the goodness of God in everything He allows to come your way.
Say these words of truth with me…
God blesses me when I make Him my refuge. When I find my sense of security in Him. When I put all my hope in Him, He blesses me. As I go to God with everything that concerns me – all my cares, all my worries… He blesses me… with PEACE. As I trust the stability and strength of His covering , He puts my heart at ease. When I make God my safe place, He is faithful to cover me, to reassure me of His love, to remind me of His mercy, to make me whole when life tries to rip me apart.
As I seek God, He comes near me. As I pursue His presence, as I seek to know Him, I experience the fullness of who He is. I come to recognize that I have all I need in Him. As I taste, I see His goodness all around me and find that I lack no good thing. I am able to see that because I have Him, I have everything.
The Creator of the Universe knows me by name and calls me His own. As I see that my life is truly full of God’s goodness, and fear is displaced by His perfect love, I finally see that my lack is an illusion. My desire is no longer set on the things of this world, but only on Him. And so He fills me up, He restores my soul, pouring Himself over me in love and goodness. Lack has no place here. Indeed I am full and filled to overflowing!
Love & Blessings,
