In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. Eph 6:10
When tragedy strikes, when the rug is pulled from under us, when everything is a mess, we’re often told to be strong. We even tell ourselves that. “Be strong. This too shall pass”. While these words are good, it is futile to try to live up to them outside of God. We need to be strong, yes, but strong IN THE LORD.
Be strong in the Lord. That means we find our strength in Him. It means that when the storm rages, we run to Him and not away. It means we look to Him for answers before anyone else. It means we seek Him for peace, solace and security instead of our bank balances or jobs. It means that we will be revived in His presence when we feel weak. It means that our relationship with God gives us access to all the strength we need for what seems impossible to face. The strength of the Lord enables and equips us to do what could never be accomplished in our own strength.
We lean on Him with dead weight, putting all our faith in His ability to rescue us, and in doing so, we are made stronger.
As children of God we are authorized – permitted beforehand, to draw on our Father’s strength in times of need. When we try to operate separate from Him, outside of Him, we fall short. But in union with God, we are qualified and commissioned, filled with power and ability by His Spirit. When we draw strength from God, our resources are boundless and without limit. Today I pray we would tap into the never-ending, unfailing strength of God. May we go into today STRONG IN THE LORD.
