Wait and listen, everyone who is thirsty! Come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Yes, come, buy [priceless, spiritual] wine and milk without money and without price [simply for the self-surrender that accepts the blessing]. 2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your earnings for what does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness [the profuseness of spiritual joy]. Isaiah 55: 1-2 AMPC
This scripture is so interesting. Through the prophet Isaiah, God is calling people with no money to come and have a feast! How can people with no money have wine and milk to satisfy their thirst? It’s the way things work in the Kingdom of God. In the Kingdom, you don’t receive based on what you have. Not based on what you can do. But based on what God has done for you through Jesus. You receive purely based on God’s goodness. Completely opposite to the world. God is telling us that He can satisfy our souls with that which money cannot buy. The pleasure of being in His presence.
All God requires is surrender. That we receive instead of trying to get. We use money and labor to try to get what we want. But we need only open our hearts in surrender to receive what God has for us. His love, peace, mercy and grace. The stuff that fills your spirit with delight. He satisfies your soul with His goodness. Kind of like the way you feel after you’ve had your favorite meal…except way better!
Many times we spend our money and energy trying to get what we think will fill the God-shaped void in our hearts. We buy things we don’t need to try to satisfy our longing to feel like we have enough. Struggling to feel like we’re enough. God is saying His love for us has nothing to do with what we can buy. He pours out His love lavishly on us because He is Love. This love never runs out because He is All-Sufficient. So in Him, we have enough and we are enough. In God, we can finally be whole. Not lacking anything. No more nagging feelings of inadequacy. No more being plagued by insecurity. No more trying to prove.
Our Loving Father invites us to come and enjoy His presence. The abundance of love and goodness that never runs out. In God, we have all we need. All we’ve been longing for. Today, may we come to His table and join the feast. Let’s surrender and stop trying to get what money can’t buy anyway. Let’s open our hearts to our Heavenly Father and receive His goodness.
Love & Blessings,
