The Rock

May we find peace in the midst of overwhelm, as we remember God, our Rock.

On the go? Press play!

Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.  From the end of the earth will I cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed and fainting; lead me to the rock that is higher than I [yes, a rock that is too high for me].  For You have been a shelter and a refuge for me, a strong tower against the adversary.  I will dwell in Your tabernacle forever; let me find refuge and trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!  For You, O God, have heard my vows; You have given me the heritage of those who fear, revere, and honor Your name.  Psalm 61: 1-5 AMPC

Pray this prayer with me…

Father, thank You for always hearing when I call.  For always listening to my prayers.  For inclining Your ears to my cry.  In my times of weariness…  When I feel faint…  As life’s waves toss me about and I feel I’m gasping for air…  Thank You God that You are my Rock.  You are my Safe Place.  You are the One who gives rest to my soul.  I can run to you when my heart is overwhelmed.  I can catch my breath in Your presence.  You, Lord, are my breath.  When I feel depleted and unsure… When I’ve reached the end of myself… I’m reminded to look higher than myself.  To look to You, Lord.  Your Spirit leads me to You.  Reminds me that You are near. Present.  With me and for me.

God You are my shelter.  You cover me.  I find peace in the shadow of Your wings.  Though the enemy may form weapons against me, You fight my battles for me.  You go before me.  You hedge me in on every side.  When life seems to rush in with all it’s noise…  Your Spirit reminds me to pause.  To find peace as I think on Your goodness and care over me.   As I think on the victory I have in You, a calm washes over my soul.  Fears fade away.

As Your child, I live to honor Your name.  I seek to bring You glory with my life.  Thank You that I live in the grace bought by Jesus’ blood.  That my inheritance and heritage is in Jesus.  That is my only treasure and great reward.  Thank You Lord! Thank You!  My hope and strength have been renewed!

Love & Blessings,

Less Trodden
