In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.  Matthew 5:16 NIV

Light is meant to be noticed.  It helps us see when everything is dark.  Makes the way ahead more clear.  The scripture calls us to let our light shine.  The light that God has deposited in us by His Spirit.  The light of God shines through us as we show His love.  His love is displayed through acts of kindness and grace.  By speaking the truth in love.  By offering a listening ear.  An encouraging word.  A shoulder to cry on.  Being a friend when everyone else has walked away.  Judged and cast them aside.  Being a light means being a bridge.  Extending yourself in doing good to others.

The point of light is not just to shine.  Not just to be seen as different from the darkness.  Letting our light shine isn’t so that we can be noticed.  Not so that we would be seen as righteous and good.  We all sin.  We all fall short.  We all have flaws.  But we shine God’s light from within so that others would see and be pointed to Him.  The Only Perfect One.  Our good works are meant to bring others to know the God who has been so good to us.  Our words of grace and kindness are meant to tell of the God who shows us undeserved grace.  Kindness beyond our ability to ever repay.  May our light bring others to know our Father who is the Light in us.  And may He receive all the glory.

Love & Blessings,

Less Trodden
