Bottle of Tears

God sees our sorrow. Our tears are never wasted.

On the go? Press play!

You keep track of all my sorrows.  You have collected all my tears in your bottle.  You have recorded each one in your book.  Psalm 56:8 NLT

Have you ever felt like no one really understands your pain?  Ever felt like your struggles go unnoticed?  Sometimes we all get so wrapped up in our own lives.  So caught up with our own worries, that we miss the plight of those closest to us.  Their quiet cries for help go unheard.  The signs of desperate need slip right past us.

We humans fail each other all the time.  Flawed, selfish, prone to think only of our own gain.  We often fail to be our brothers keeper.  Thankfully our God never forgets us.  Our needs, our grief, our sorrows, every concern – He sees it all.  He doesn’t just see it though.  He keeps track of it.  Takes note of it.  He’s aware of every detail of the challenges we face.  He is with us in our times of greatest need.  And though He may not always answer our prayers in the way we wish He would, He assures us in His Word that our sorrow doesn’t go unnoticed.

This is comforting only if we truly believe God is good.  For those of us who define God’s goodness by whether or not we get what we want, scriptures that tell us God sees our pain can be angering.  Because the temptation is then to wonder if He sees my pain, why doesn’t He remove the cause of it?

God isn’t in the business of providing us comfort if it costs us our character.

Like any wise parent, God knows there are things we must experience in order to grow and mature.  He knows us better than we know ourselves because He made us.  So sometimes He allows us to go through difficulty because He sees the benefit at the end of it all.  God lovingly charts our course down the path that will be for our greatest good.  It’s up to us to follow Him down that path, trusting His heart towards us.  Every step of the way knowing that He walks with us.  He is on every peak and in every valley.

May we find comfort in the fact that God sees every one of our tears.  He never lets them go to waste.

Love & Blessings,

Less Trodden
